Southampton Lowers Onuachu’s Valuation, but Trabzonspor Stalls on Deal

Southampton has reduced their asking price for Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu to €9 million amid interest from Trabzonspor, Sportblog247.com reports.

Onuachu, who impressed during his loan spell at Trabzonspor last season, scoring 17 goals and providing four assists in 25 appearances, has become a key transfer target for the Turkish club. Despite his success, it appears that Southampton no longer needs his services, while Trabzonspor is keen to sign him permanently.

Initially, Southampton demanded €15 million for the 30-year-old striker, a price Trabzonspor was unwilling to meet. The Saints then lowered their asking price to €11 million, but this fee was still too high for Trabzonspor.

According to a new report from DikFootball, Southampton has now cut their price again to €9 million. However, Trabzonspor remains reluctant to pay this amount, proposing instead to pay €5 million in two installments plus €2 million in add-ons.

It is unlikely that Southampton will agree to this deal, as it would represent a significant loss after acquiring Onuachu for €15 million just 18 months ago. Nonetheless, given their desire to offload the Nigerian striker, they may eventually reach an agreement with Trabzonspor.
