Yusif Basigi, head coach of Sekondi Hasaacas Ladies Football Club, expressed no surprise at striker Mukarama Abdulai’s achievements.
Following Abdulai’s win of the Home-Based Female Footballer of the Year Award at the 2024 Ghana Football Awards, Basigi reflected on her journey. Abdulai, who returned to form after a prolonged injury layoff, played a pivotal role in Hasaacas Ladies’ victories in the FA Cup and Women’s Premier League. She also contributed significantly to the Black Princesses’ gold medal win at the 2023 African Games.
“In handling such a prominent figure, who had been sidelined for nearly a year and a half due to injury, I knew we couldn’t afford to let her talent fade away. We worked hard to ensure her recovery, bringing her back to form in Takoradi,” Basigi shared in an exclusive interview with Channel One Sports.
Basigi emphasized his satisfaction with Abdulai’s resurgence, stating, “I’m not surprised to see her excel again.”
Currently, Abdulai is part of the Black Princesses squad in camp, preparing for the 2024 Women’s Under 20 World Cup.
