Arsenal Poised to Approve Eddie Nketiah’s Loan Move to Marseille with Obligation to Buy

Arsenal is nearing approval of Eddie Nketiah’s loan move to Marseille, which includes an obligation for the French club to purchase the striker for approximately €30 million. Personal terms for a five-year contract have been agreed upon, but the final decision rests with Marseille. New Marseille head coach Roberto De Zerbi is leading the negotiations, and Nketiah, 25, is eager to join Ligue 1. Marseille’s initial offer of around €20 million in July was close to Arsenal’s valuation, and ongoing discussions have moved the clubs toward a final agreement. Nketiah signed a new five-year deal with Arsenal in June 2022 but has seen limited action due to the arrivals of Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz. Last season, he made 37 appearances, scoring six goals, but started only 10 Premier League matches. Nketiah also made his senior England debut last season but remains eligible to represent Ghana.
