Asante Kotoko will face Major League Soccer team DC United in the Capital City Africa Cup on October 12, 2024, in the USA. The Ghana Premier League giants earned this opportunity after winning the inaugural Democracy Cup by defeating rivals Hearts of Oak.

The Ghana Football Association and the Ghana Tourism Authority have approved Kotoko’s participation in this match, which is part of Ghana Week 2024 activities in Washington, DC.

This marks the second consecutive year a Ghanaian club has taken part in the friendly cup in the US, following Medeama’s involvement last year. Asante Kotoko, based in Kumasi, is currently preparing for the new season at their Adako Jachie Sports Complex, aiming for another Premier League title. The club, one of Ghana’s most successful, has a storied history including two African Champions League titles.
