Coventry City Football Club manager Mark Robins has praised Ghana Black Stars striker Brandon Solomon Thomas-Asante for his standout traits that he believes will enhance the team.
Robins described the 25-year-old as a powerful, pacy player with goal-scoring pedigree in an interview with Coventry City media. The club signed the former West Bromwich Albion player to a four-year deal for an undisclosed amount.
Thomas-Asante was initially set to join fellow EFL Championship side Hull City and was even spotted at Hull City’s home ground a few days before a last-minute switch led him to Coventry instead.
Coventry City assistant manager George Boateng reportedly played a key role in Thomas-Asante’s decision to choose Coventry over Hull City. Boateng, a former Black Stars assistant coach, joined Coventry earlier this offseason and received high praise from Robins for influencing the English-born Ghanaian player.
“We’re excited to welcome Brandon to Coventry City. He is a powerful and pacy striker who has goal-scoring pedigree at this level plus a great attitude and work rate. Brandon can play across the frontline and will further strengthen our attacking options. We look forward to working with him at Coventry City.”
Thomas-Asante made his Black Stars debut in Ghana’s 4-3 win over Central African Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
