Ex-Kotoko Boss Opoku Nti Confident in Team’s Success After Recent Recruitment

Former Asante Kotoko player and General Manager, Samuel Opoku Nti, has expressed strong confidence in the club’s chances for the upcoming Ghana Premier League season, attributing his optimism to the team’s recent recruitment efforts.

Opoku Nti, who is celebrated for scoring the decisive goal in Kotoko’s 1983 CAF Champions League victory, praised the club’s new signings, highlighting the blend of individual talent and teamwork that positions them well for success.

“I would be shocked if Kotoko doesn’t win the league with the team they have assembled,” Opoku Nti stated confidently.

He emphasized the importance of both individual skill and collective effort, noting that the current squad possesses the maturity and ability to excel without constant guidance from the coach. “Nowadays, both individual talent and teamwork are essential. Sometimes, the coach doesn’t need to give instructions; you need mature players who can step up and support the team when needed,” he added.

After a disappointing season that saw Kotoko finish sixth, the club has undergone a significant overhaul, releasing over 20 players and bringing in 11 new recruits.

As part of their pre-season preparations, Kotoko will face Medeama SC in a friendly match on Friday, August 16, at the new TNA Stadium.

Opoku Nti’s confidence is a reflection of the club’s efforts to build a strong lineup for the new season, suggesting that he anticipates a successful campaign for the Porcupine Warriors.
