Ghana Midfielder Amankwah Forson Makes Norwich City Debut in Championship Opener

Black Stars midfielder Amankwah Forson made his debut for Norwich City in their English Championship season opener against Oxford United.

Forson entered the match at the start of the second half, replacing Liam Gibbs, as the Canaries suffered a road defeat in their first game of the season.

Despite the loss, the 21-year-old Ghana international displayed promising signs of his quality, giving manager Johannes Thorup optimism about the summer signing.

Forson joined Norwich City from Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg on a four-year contract with an option for an additional year, just a day before his debut on Friday, August 9, 2024. Remarkably, he made his first appearance for the club less than 24 hours after signing, without completing a full training session.

In the match, Mark Harris opened the scoring for Oxford United, with Cameron Brannagan adding a second goal shortly after halftime on a hot Saturday afternoon at the Kassam Stadium.
