Heart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford has urged caution regarding expectations for the upcoming Ghana Premier League season, stressing that the team’s success will heavily rely on the resources and preparations available.
Following a penalty shootout loss to Hearts of Oak in the Homowo Cup, Hayford reflected on the challenges that lie ahead. The club finished 13th last season with 45 points, and as they gear up for the 2024/25 campaign, Hayford remains pragmatic about their prospects.
“I can’t make any definitive predictions about our success at this stage,” Hayford shared with Peace FM. “Our performance will depend on the resources and materials we have at our disposal. Once the league starts and I see how well we’ve prepared, I’ll have a better sense of our capabilities. Right now, it’s too early to make accurate forecasts.”
Hayford plans to carefully evaluate his team’s abilities and the performance of other clubs in the early stages of the season before making any concrete statements about their chances.
“Let’s start the league, observe the players, and watch a few matches of other clubs before drawing any conclusions,” he added.
Heart of Lions will kick off their Ghana Premier League campaign against Aduana Stars, with Hayford’s measured approach aiming to build a competitive team for the season ahead.
