Ghanaian sports journalist Kenneth Odeng Adade has been appointed as the Chairman of the Nomination Committee for the 49th Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards. The committee, consisting of experienced sports journalists, industry experts, and respected personalities, will carefully review and nominate outstanding achievers in various sports categories such as football, athletics, boxing, and tennis.
Adade, who is also an editor at the Ghana News Agency and an expert in less-funded sports, will lead the seven-member committee to identify and nominate deserving athletes and officials from the 2024 sporting calendar. The committee includes members Maurice Quansah, Matilda Dimedo (Secretary), Gabriel Obu, Bright Yeboah Taylor, Yaw Kyei Baffour, and Mohammed Shaban.
SWAG President Kwabena Yeboah expressed confidence in the committee’s ability to ensure a fair and thorough nomination process, reflecting the best of Ghanaian sports. The committee’s work will begin on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, with the nominees to be announced in December, ahead of the awards ceremony scheduled for January 24, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre.
