Former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has reflected on the timing and success of his coaching career, highlighting his historic achievements and his optimistic outlook for the future. Now serving as Sudan’s national team coach, Appiah previously made history as the first sub-Saharan African coach to lead a team to the FIFA World Cup. He gained valuable experience as an assistant coach under renowned figures like Claude Le Roy and Milovan Rajevac before taking the reins as head coach of the Black Stars after the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Appiah led Ghana to the semi-finals of the 2013 AFCON and successfully guided the team to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
In an interview with FIFA Media, Appiah emphasized the importance of patience and timing in his career, expressing pride in his accomplishments and admiration for fellow African coaches like Senegal’s Aliou Cissé.
