Ghanaian midfielder Michael Baidoo played a key role in Elfsborg’s 2-1 triumph over GAIS in the Swedish Allsvenskan on Sunday. The 25-year-old opened the scoring in the 8th minute, setting the stage for Elfsborg’s success in the week 18 match at Boras Arena.
GAIS quickly responded with an equalizer in the 14th minute through Alexander Ahl Holmström, but Elfsborg regained their lead before halftime, courtesy of an own goal by Anes Cardaklija. Despite being reduced to 10 men in the 66th minute, Elfsborg held on to secure the victory.
Baidoo’s compatriots, Jalal Abdullai and Terry Yegbe, also contributed to the win. Abdullai played 75 minutes before being substituted by Leo Ostman, while Yegbe completed the full match.
Baidoo has now made 17 appearances in the Swedish Allsvenskan this season, scoring six goals and providing four assists, further establishing himself as a vital player for Elfsborg.
