Michael Baidoo Shines Again as Elfsborg Advance in Europa League Playoffs

Ghanaian midfielder Michael Baidoo continued his impressive form for IF Elfsborg, scoring a crucial goal in their 2-0 victory over HNK Rijeka, which secured their progression in the UEFA Europa League qualification playoffs. The Swedish side advanced with a 3-1 aggregate score after the decisive home match at the Boras Arena.

Baidoo broke the deadlock in the 68th minute following a tactical switch by Elfsborg, who had struggled to find the net in the first half. His goal came from a well-timed pass by Swedish international Ahmed Qasem.

The match’s second goal arrived in the 83rd minute, with Qasem scoring to seal the victory and ensure Elfsborg’s advancement. Baidoo, who played the full 90 minutes alongside compatriot Terry Yegbe, has now scored nine goals and provided six assists in 23 appearances across all competitions this season. His contributions have been vital to Elfsborg’s campaign, making him an indispensable player as they continue their European journey.

Jalal Abdullai, another Ghanaian at Elfsborg, missed the match due to suspension.
