Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu expressed his satisfaction after completing a full pre-season with French giants AS Monaco. The Black Stars center-back played a pivotal role in Monaco’s preparations for the new season, culminating in a resounding 3-0 victory over FC Barcelona to win the Joan Gamper Trophy.
Salisu, who joined Monaco from Southampton last summer but only featured for half a season due to injury, is now fully fit and eager to contribute to the team’s upcoming campaign. “It’s something really important for me. Last year I arrived injured and I was only able to play half the season. Now I’ve done the preseason with the team and I’m in good shape,” he told Mundo Deportivo.
Monaco, who finished second in Ligue 1 last season, will be returning to the UEFA Champions League, and Salisu is optimistic about the club’s prospects. “We have to keep going like this. We will achieve many things,” he added.
