Paris 2024: Saminu’s Performance Boosts Morale Ahead of Relays – Benjamin Graham

Media Attaché of Team Ghana at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, Benjamin Willie Graham, described sprinter Abdul-Rasheed Saminu’s performance in the Men’s 100 Metres event as a significant morale boost ahead of Ghana’s participation in the 4×100 Metre Relays.

Ghana will compete in the Relay Heats on August 8, with a place in the final and a shot at a medal at stake. The team comprises Benjamin Azamati, Joseph Paul Amoah, Isaac Botsio, and Ibrahim Fuseini.

Leading up to the race, Saminu clocked 10.05 seconds to finish fifth in Heat 3 of the Men’s 100 Metre semifinals, narrowly missing out on the finals.

“Basically, I will say that it’s a morale-boosting performance. I’ve heard Saminu saying that Ghanaians should expect an explosive run from the 4×100 Metres Team,” said Graham.

Graham emphasized that Saminu’s impressive semifinal performance in his debut Olympics is a significant morale boost for the relays. “Coming into this competition, Saminu was the fastest athlete in the Ghanaian team with 10.02 seconds, so he was top-ranked by World Athletics. Now the 4×100 Team is also top-rated, ranked seventh in the world as well.”
