Abdul Karim Zito Supports CAF’s Decision to Ban Baba Yara Stadium

Former Black Stars player and current Dreams FC coach Abdul Karim Zito has voiced his approval of CAF’s decision to ban the Baba Yara Sports Stadium from hosting international matches until it undergoes renovations. The ruling followed Ghana’s defeat to Angola and means the country’s upcoming matches will be held outside Ghana.

Zito expressed that the decision could drive improvements in stadium facilities, noting how far behind Ghana is compared to other nations. He pointed out that better infrastructure, like that seen in Rwanda, is crucial for progress.

Following the ban, Ghana’s Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, has instructed the GFA to request CAF to inspect Legon Stadium as an alternative venue for future matches. The stadium was recently renovated for the 2023 African Games.
