Kobena Woyome Expresses Frustration After CAF Declares Baba Yara Stadium Unfit for Matches

Wisdom Kobena Woyome, Chairman of Ghana’s Parliament Select Committee for Youth, Sports, and Tourism, has voiced his disappointment following CAF’s decision to deem the Baba Yara Stadium unfit to host international football matches. The ruling, issued on Wednesday, September 11, means Ghana’s upcoming 2025 AFCON qualifier games against Sudan, scheduled for October 11 and 15, will now be held outside the country.

With the Black Stars needing a win after recent poor performances, the ruling has sparked frustration. In an interview with ChannelOne Sports, Woyome criticized the handling of renovations at both the Baba Yara and Ohene Djan (Accra) Sports Stadiums, suggesting that funds allocated for the upgrades were misused. He called for a paradigm shift in addressing these issues to prevent such situations in the future.
