Sudan’s head coach, James Kwasi Appiah, commended his team’s performance after a 1-0 victory over Niger in their opening 2025 AFCON qualifier but emphasized that there are still many challenges ahead. The Falcons of Jediane secured three points in Group F thanks to Bakr Issa’s 51st-minute goal during the match, which had to be played in South Sudan due to conflict in Sudan.
Appiah expressed his gratitude to the players for their efforts but acknowledged the upcoming fixtures, including a crucial match against Angola on September 9. He emphasized that the journey to AFCON qualification is just beginning, with many matches left to play.
Sudan also currently leads Group B in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers under Appiah’s guidance.
