Seth ‘Freezy Macbones’ Gyimah Becomes Top Contender in Ghana Boxing as Rivals Line Up Challenges

Seth Gyimah, popularly known as Freezy Macbones, has quickly become a sought-after figure in Ghana’s boxing scene, with promoters eager to feature him on their cards and competitors in his weight class lining up to challenge him.

After an unsuccessful attempt to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with the Black Bombers, Freezy transitioned to the professional ranks, where he has secured four consecutive wins. His latest victory came last Saturday under the Shiatse and Legacy Fight Promotions banner at the “Golden Hands” event, where he dispatched David Okine in the first round.

Following this bout, two former teammates from the Bombers, Jonathan Tetteh (aka “Worldwide”)—now a pro with three wins—and Jonathan Mbanugu, who has lost twice in 12 fights, entered the ring to challenge him. Freezy welcomed the challenge, stating that his mother taught him that gaining attention means he is doing something right, and he expressed his readiness to take on new opponents.

Freezy called on the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) to draft a contract, declaring that he’s ready for more action. In the meantime, Box Office Promotions is preparing for an exciting night of boxing in November at the Accra Sports Stadium, where Freezy will headline a highly anticipated bout against Ernest Akushey, alias Baubali. The event will also feature a rematch between Derrick ‘Jesus’ Quaye and Michael “One Bullet” Ansah.

In response to fan demand, Shiatse and Legacy Fight Promotions are also set to stage a bout between Gyimah and Tetteh, with promoter Hon Nii Okai Laryea stating, “If that’s what fight fans want, we will give it to them.”
