This past weekend, thousands of runners took to the streets of Accra for the 2024 KGL Foundation Millennium Marathon, featuring participants from across Africa, including Ivory Coast, Kenya, and Ethiopia.
The event, which started at the Accra Sports Stadium and concluded at Independence Square, included both a 5-kilometre fun run and a competitive 21-kilometre race. The marathon attracted elite athletes and casual runners alike, with the top 25 finishers receiving prizes in the 21k race.
In addition to the races, the day featured live music, food stalls, and interactive games, creating a festive atmosphere. The KGL Foundation, as the title sponsor, highlighted its commitment to health and well-being, with Programs Manager Nii Annorbah-Sarpei presenting the top prize.
The marathon continues to grow in popularity, promoting national pride, unity, and a focus on community health.
