Veteran boxing trainer Abdul Rasheed Williams, also known as Coach Believer, has highlighted the major challenges facing Ghanaian amateur boxing, including a lack of exposure for boxers, insufficient funding, and the need for transparent and effective leadership. Speaking on The Big Fight Night on Omashi TV, Coach Believer emphasized that while there is abundant talent in local communities, success on the international stage requires more than just skill—it demands rigorous testing and diverse competition.

He noted that many Ghanaian boxers only train and compete against familiar opponents, limiting their growth. He suggested that training in Eastern Europe or Asia could significantly enhance their abilities. As the manager of Believers Gym and trainer of the national female boxing team, the Black Hitters, Coach Williams also expressed concerns about the overall state of Ghanaian boxing, citing issues like arranged bouts, lack of investment, and high costs at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

Drawing from his family’s rich boxing legacy, Coach Believer called for unity and transparency within the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) and expressed his intentions to run for a position in the next GBF elections. He also named Floyd Mayweather, Azumah Nelson, Ike Quartey, and Joshua Clottey as his favorite boxers, praising their dedication to training.
