Harry Stacey led Ghana’s impressive start at the 2024 Africa Aquatics Zone 2 Juniors and Seniors Swimming Championship, bagging four gold and one bronze medal on the opening day. The championship, which features 18 West and Central African nations, kicked off in Accra at the Borteyman Sports Complex, with Ghana amassing 22 medals—11 in the senior division and 11 in the junior division.

In the senior category, Stacey dominated in the men’s 50m breaststroke, 100m breaststroke, and 200m freestyle, while also securing bronze in the 50m backstroke. He joined his teammates to win gold in the mixed 4x100m freestyle relay. Fellow swimmer Abeiku Jackson also claimed gold in the men’s 100m butterfly, while Alice Joselle Mensah and Nubia Adjei took multiple medals in the women’s division.

The junior swimmers added to the success, with 12-year-old Jada Yankey and 14-year-old Michael Crabbe-Mann among those winning gold. The Ghanaian team is poised to continue their medal haul with two more days of competition remaining.
