2025 AFCON Qualifiers: Lawrence Agyekum Acknowledges Ghana’s Struggles

Cercle Brugge midfielder Lawrence Agyekum has admitted that Ghana is facing significant challenges in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. With underwhelming performances in the first four matches, including a 2-2 draw against Sudan and a 2-0 loss to Libya, the Black Stars are in danger of missing the tournament for the first time in two decades. Currently third in Group F with just two points, their chances of qualifying appear slim.

Agyekum, who is eligible to represent both Ghana and Niger, voiced his concern about Ghana’s struggles. “I love both countries and want to see them succeed. It’s not going well for Ghana in the AFCON qualifiers, but they’re doing better in the World Cup qualifiers,” the 20-year-old stated.

Agyekum has made 13 appearances for Cercle Brugge this season, gaining valuable experience in both the Belgian league and the Europa League while on loan from RB Salzburg.
