Abdul Mumin Receives Red Card in Rayo Vallecano’s Victory over Deportivo Alaves

Ghanaian defender Abdul Mumin Suleman saw red in Rayo Vallecano’s La Liga clash with Deportivo Alaves. The Black Stars center-back was ejected in the 22nd minute following a rash challenge on Alaves forward Toni Martinez. Initially shown a yellow by referee Adrián Cordero Vega, a VAR review upgraded it to a straight red.

Despite playing with ten men for the majority of the match, Vallecano managed a late win, courtesy of an own goal from Alaves goalkeeper Antonio Sivera. Mumin, recently named Rayo Vallecano’s Player of the Month for September, will miss the upcoming matches against Villarreal, Las Palmas, and Sevilla. So far, he has made 11 appearances for Vallecano this season, contributing one goal and an assist.
