AFCON 2025 Qualifiers: Jonas Adjetey Makes Ghana Debut in 2-0 Loss to Sudan

FC Basel defender Jonas Adjei Adjetey made his debut for Ghana’s Black Stars in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan. He replaced injured Mohammed Salisu in the final 15 minutes at the Martyrs February Stadium in Libya. Adjetey’s debut was marked by a late booking for a foul on Sudanese winger Seif Teiri.

Ghana’s hopes of qualifying for AFCON 2025 took a hit with a 2-0 defeat, following second-half goals from Ahmed Mahmoud Mohamed and Mohamed Abdelrahman. The Black Stars now sit third in Group F with two points from four matches and face crucial games against Angola and Niger in November.

Adjetey is seen as a promising talent as coach Otto Addo continues to rebuild the team.
