Ajibade and Monday Lead Super Falcons as Oshoala, Alozie Miss Algeria Friendlies

Super Falcons interim coach Justine Madugu has announced a 25-player squad for two international friendlies against Algeria in Lagos, as reported by Sportblog247.com. Key absentees from the lineup are Bay FC striker Asisat Oshoala and Houston Dash defender Michelle Alozie, both unavailable for the call-up.

Leading the team are Spain-based forward Gift Monday and team captain Rasheedat Ajibade, who will be joined by a blend of home-based talents and rising stars. Among the local names are Comfort Folorunsho from Edo Queens and standout performers from the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia, such as Falconets’ stars.

The fixtures, set for Saturday, October 26th, and Tuesday, October 29th, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, mark the Super Falcons’ first international friendlies on home soil since the 2021 Aisha Buhari Invitational Tournament. Their last home match prior to that was in 2014, when they faced Cameroon in Abuja.

The Algerian team will arrive in Lagos on Wednesday, with FIFA match officials from Benin Republic appointed by CAF to oversee the games. With Oshoala and Alozie absent, Ajibade and Monday are expected to lead the Super Falcons in proving their worth on the international stage.
