Bafana Bafana’s AFCON 2025 Qualification Delayed After Draw with Congo

Bafana Bafana’s qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations was delayed after a 1-1 draw with Congo in Brazzaville. Despite two games remaining, Hugo Broos’ team remains in a strong position to qualify, trailing Uganda, who secured their place with a 2-1 win over South Sudan.

Elias Mokwana opened the scoring for South Africa in the 33rd minute, but Congo equalized in stoppage time through Mons Bassouamina. The match was tightly contested, with South Africa fortunate to escape some refereeing decisions that upset the home crowd.
