The Black Stars have received a significant boost with 23 players now present in camp ahead of their pivotal 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Sudan.
Initially, only 11 players participated in the first training session at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday. However, the arrival of 12 additional players has raised the squad size to 23.
An update from the Black Stars’ official social media page confirmed the arrivals, stating: “Ibrahim Sulemana, Ernest Nuamah, Michael Baidoo, Ibrahim Sadiq, Abdul Mumin, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Alidu Seidu, Majeed Ashimeru, Inaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey, Jerome Opoku, and Alexander Djiku have all reported to camp!”
Only two players, Abu Francis and Jonas Adjei Adjetey, are yet to report and are expected to join on Wednesday, October 9. They received late call-ups following injuries to Thomas Partey, Joseph Paintsil, Ibrahim Osman, and Kingsley Schindler.
Ghana will face Sudan, led by former Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah, on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium before heading to Libya for the second leg. These matches are crucial for Ghana’s hopes of securing a spot in the 2025 AFCON tournament.
