Bright Addae Attributes Ghana’s Historic U-20 World Cup Win to Determination

Former Ghana youth international, Bright Addae, has revealed that sheer determination was the driving force behind the Black Satellites’ historic victory at the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt.

Led by Coach Sellas Tetteh, the Ghanaian team became the first African nation to win the tournament after a dramatic final against Brazil. Despite playing with 10 men for much of the match, the Black Satellites showed remarkable resilience, holding Brazil to a draw before winning on penalties.

Reflecting on the triumph, Addae, who played a key role in the squad, emphasized, “The journey wasn’t easy, but we were determined to achieve something for our country.” He added that their determination in camp showcased their readiness to make history for Ghana.

The 2009 victory remains a landmark moment in African football and a proud achievement for Addae and his teammates.
