German coach Bruno Labbadia has lauded the offensive prowess of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, singling out strikers Victor Osimhen and Victor Boniface as key players in what he describes as an “attack second to none.”

In a recent interview with Bild, Labbadia discussed his enthusiasm for potentially leading Nigeria in major competitions like the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the World Cup. His comments follow a period of negotiations with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) after the resignation of former head coach Finidi George. However, talks broke down due to reported financial disagreements.

“I was tempted to play in the Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup. Above all, to play in a World Cup with a team that would not have to hide from the big teams,” Labbadia said, expressing his admiration for the Super Eagles’ talent, particularly the dynamic forward duo of Osimhen, currently at Napoli, and Boniface, shining at Bayer Leverkusen.

Despite missing out on the role, Labbadia remains impressed by Nigeria’s offensive potential, describing it as one of the best on the international stage. Following the collapse of the deal, Austin Eguavoen was appointed interim coach, steering the team to success in their AFCON 2025 qualifiers with two wins and a draw.
