The Nigerian team was diverted 220km from the Benghazi venue and stranded overnight without access to basic necessities. Nigeria captain William Troost-Ekong announced the team’s decision not to play, citing unsafe conditions. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has promised an investigation into the incident.
