Ghanaian Scrabble champion Charles Tachie-Menson secured a remarkable victory over Nigeria’s John Ayedun to win the third Lekki Scrabble Classics in Lagos. Tachie-Menson, who clinched the one million Naira prize, outperformed some of Africa’s best players, including defending champion Enoch Nwali, Emmanuel Umujose, and Timilehin Doko. His victory on Nigeria’s Independence Day added special significance, as he sought revenge against his Nigerian rivals, known for dominating African Scrabble. Tachie-Menson now aims to build on this success at the upcoming African Championship in Kigali, with eyes set on the 2025 World Championships in Ghana.
