West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville shared his thoughts on his goal celebration with suspended teammate Mohammed Kudus during the recent English Premier League match against Manchester United. Summerville scored the opener in the Hammers’ 2-1 victory, marking a significant return to form in the league.
Kudus, serving the first of a three-match suspension following his red card against Tottenham Hotspur, watched from the stands. In a memorable moment at the London Olympic Stadium, Summerville dashed across the field to celebrate with the Ghanaian midfielder. He revealed that he had promised Kudus he would score upon his substitution.
“I told Mo that when I came on, I was going to score and that I was going to celebrate with him!” Summerville said, who earned the Man of the Match award. “I like Mo a lot—I look up to him both on and off the pitch, and the emotions all just came out.”
Summerville expressed his joy over the goal, emphasizing the importance of being alert in the box. “I was switched on, and I was happy to see the ball fall to my feet,” he noted. “I’ve had to be patient at times this season, but when I come on, I just try to give energy to the team. That’s why West Ham wanted me in the summer, and I think I managed to bring some joy to the stadium today.”
Kudus is set to return to action on November 25, following the international break.
