Elfsborg’s Michael Baidoo Makes Ghana Debut in AFCON Qualifier Draw Against Sudan

Midfielder Michael Baidoo made his debut for the Black Stars in their goalless draw against Sudan on October 10, 2024, in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium. The 25-year-old Elfsborg star came off the bench to replace Atalanta’s Ibrahim Sulemana with ten minutes left, as Ghana pushed for a late winner. However, Sudan’s defense held firm to secure a draw.

Baidoo was a late call-up following injuries to four players from the original 25-man squad, including captain Thomas Partey. Despite his limited time on the field, the former FK Jerv player impressed, adding an attacking spark as Ghana created several late chances.

Baidoo will join the team for their upcoming away fixture against Sudan in Libya, where the Black Stars will seek their first win in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers. Ghana currently sits third in Group F with two points from three matches.
