Dr. Eric Opoku-Antwi, co-founder of Spintex Knights Basketball Club, has attributed the team’s recent losses in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) preliminary round to fatigue. In an interview with Citi Sports, Dr. Opoku-Antwi explained that the demanding schedule impacted the team’s performance despite their successful progression to the next stage after finishing second in West Division Group B.
The Knights started strong with a dominant 94-66 win over Elan Coton Sport from Benin but fell to close defeats against Abidjan Fighters (69-73) and Mighty Barolle from Liberia. The games were played over three consecutive days, leaving little recovery time.
“The team arrived in Libya at 9 AM and had to play by 3 PM, leaving minimal time for rest. Despite this, they fought hard, especially against a very professional ABC Fighters team,” Dr. Opoku-Antwi remarked. Nonetheless, a better point differential secured their advancement in the tournament.
