FIFA Imposes Player Registration Ban on Young Africans SC Over Hafiz Konkoni Compensation Dispute

FIFA has sanctioned Tanzanian club Young Africans SC with a player registration ban for failing to comply with a compensation ruling involving Ghanaian striker Hafiz Konkoni. The dispute arose after Young Africans prematurely terminated Konkoni’s contract, signed in 2023, without paying the agreed compensation. Konkoni, now playing for Ethiopia’s Bunna FC, took the matter to FIFA after the club refused to settle his signing-on fees and removed his name from the Tanzania Football Federation’s system without consent. FIFA ruled in Konkoni’s favour on October 17, 2024, resulting in the ban until Young Africans paid the owed compensation.
