Former Ghana coach Charles Akonnor has voiced his concerns over the Black Stars’ lack of teamwork during their difficult 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign.
Following a 2-0 defeat to Libya, Ghana remains winless in four consecutive matches, with only two points to their name, putting them at risk of missing their first AFCON tournament since 2004.
In an interview, Akonnor emphasized the lack of cohesion in the team, stating, “After the first two impressive matches, the team hasn’t been playing as a unit. Individual brilliance has been on display, but we haven’t seen collective teamwork, which makes things difficult.”
He also noted the limited training time the players have together, stressing the importance of quickly addressing the issue before their upcoming matches against Angola and Niger, as their qualification hopes hang in the balance.
