Last weekend, Francis Ngannou made his highly anticipated return to mixed martial arts by defeating Renan Ferreira with a brutal knockout, becoming the new PFL heavyweight champion. After his victory, Ngannou addressed the long-discussed superfight with Jon Jones, a bout that never materialized during his UFC tenure.
Ngannou, speaking in French at the post-fight press conference, reiterated his desire to face Jones, saying, “It’s been 4 years or more that I’ve been asking for this fight. If I only ever had one fight to be in, and I had to choose, it would be this one.”
While a UFC-PFL crossover seems unlikely at present, the prospect of a heavyweight showdown between Ngannou and Jones remains an exciting fantasy for MMA fans.
