Bayer Leverkusen’s teenage forward Francis Onyeka has been awarded the Fritz Walter Medal, the highest individual honour in German youth football, by the German Football Association. Onyeka’s impressive performances for Germany’s youth team, including five goals in six appearances during the U17 European Championship qualifiers, earned him the accolade. The 16-year-old, seen as a potential successor to Victor Boniface, has been with Bayer Leverkusen since age seven and recently signed a contract extension through 2027. Although yet to make his senior debut, Onyeka is considered one of the most promising talents in the Bundesliga.
