Alidu Seidu’s path to professional football is a powerful story of perseverance. The Kumasi, Ghana native revealed that he faced significant challenges before achieving success, having failed his trials at JMG Academy four times.
“I went for trials five times at JMG Academy, which is located in Oyibi, opposite Valley View University. Each time, I was told I wasn’t good enough,” he recounted in an interview with Sportblog247.com, reflecting on the disappointments of his initial four attempts.
After his fourth failure, Seidu began to lose faith in his football aspirations. “I thought maybe I wouldn’t become a professional player, and I almost quit,” he confessed. At a crossroads, he contemplated pursuing a military career if football didn’t work out. Fortunately, encouragement from his uncle inspired him to make one last effort.
“My uncle urged me to go for trials one more time, and on the fifth attempt, I finally got in.”
This turning point paved the way for a remarkable career, leading him from JMG Academy to professional play in France with Stade Rennais and representing the Ghana national team.
