GHALCA Apologizes to GFA President Kurt Okraku, Distances Itself from Chairman Kudjoe Fianoo’s Impeachment Campaign

The Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) has taken a firm stand against its chairman, Kudjoe Fianoo, following his calls for an impeachment campaign targeting Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku. GHALCA executives recently issued an apology on behalf of Fianoo, clarifying that his actions and comments represent his personal stance rather than the official view of the association.

In an extraordinary meeting held on October 24, 2024, GHALCA’s Executive Council expressed deep dissatisfaction with Fianoo’s continuous media campaigns against Okraku and his attempts to destabilize the GFA’s leadership. This apology, addressed to GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo, underscores GHALCA’s commitment to maintaining a positive and collaborative relationship with the GFA, amidst significant efforts to rebuild and unify Ghanaian football.

Fianoo has faced backlash from GHALCA members who are disappointed by his public impeachment remarks, attributing them to recent struggles of the Black Stars in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. With the GFA under Okraku’s leadership working systematically to restore the sport following a crisis in 2018, GHALCA executives emphasized that unity and cooperation are essential for Ghanaian football’s continued growth.
