Ghanaian forward Brandon Thomas-Asante has revealed that Brazil legend Ronaldinho was his favorite player growing up, and he tries to emulate his style on the pitch. Ronaldinho, regarded as one of football’s greatest, won the Ballon d’Or twice and played a key role in Brazil’s 2002 World Cup victory.
In an interview with EFL on My Football Icon, the England-born Ghanaian shared how Ronaldinho’s joy and skill impacted his own approach to football.
“He had an impact on my career because I try to emulate him. When you first start playing football, you see him do something, and you try to replicate that skill,” Thomas-Asante explained.
The Coventry City player reflected on how Ronaldinho’s attitude and artistry shaped his love for the game. “What made him special was how he always enjoyed the game. He focused on the beauty of football, putting all his energy into entertaining people.”
Thomas-Asante also acknowledged Ronaldinho’s lasting legacy, noting that even today, he is remembered as one of the most skilful players of all time.
