Ghana Golf Association Holds Training for Sports Journalists to Promote Golf Awareness

The Ghana Golf Association (GGA) organized a one-day training session on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the Bok Nam Kim Golf Club near Burma Camp to equip sports journalists with a deeper understanding of golf. Participants, mainly from the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), were introduced to the sport’s equipment, techniques, rules, and terminology to enhance accurate reporting.

The journalists were given the opportunity to experience the golf course firsthand, practice different strokes, and learn the basics of scoring. GGA President Leonard Kwaku Okyere expressed appreciation to the journalists for attending and helping to dispel the misconception that golf is only for the wealthy. He emphasized the values of patience, integrity, and honesty in the game.

GGA Secretary Solomon Allotey highlighted upcoming tournaments, including the Asantehene Open, Ghana Open, Accra Golf Championship, Tafo Golf Open, and the PGA Tournament in Damang.

Participants were satisfied with the workshop and called for more such programs to promote golf in Ghana. The event also encouraged using social media to enhance visibility for Ghana’s golf activities.
