Kumasi to Host GFA/FIFA Women’s Football Campaign

The Technical Directorate of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), in partnership with FIFA, will launch the ‘Women’s Football Campaign’ in Kumasi on November 12-13, 2024. This initiative is part of the GFA’s ongoing Women’s Football Strategy Implementation, aimed at reducing the gender gap and increasing female participation in football.

Key objectives of the campaign include:
– Reducing the gender gap in football.
– Increasing participation across all levels.
– Providing a level playing field for girls interested in football.

Program Details:
– 32 basic schools from the Kumasi Municipality will participate.
– Girls aged 6-12 will compete in 5-a-side football matches.
– The campaign seeks to encourage grassroots participation, promote socialization, develop skills, and empower girls to make informed decisions about their football careers.

Partnership with Ghana Education Service (GES):
The GFA will collaborate with the GES through the Regional Physical Education Coordinator, aiming to establish new grassroots competitions and leagues in schools.

This campaign marks a significant step toward achieving the GFA’s Women’s Football Strategy goals, ensuring young girls have equal opportunities to play and participate in football while fostering a sense of community within the sport.
