Libya’s contrasting treatment of Ghana’s Black Stars and Nigeria’s Super Eagles has sparked controversy ahead of the AFCON 2025 qualifiers. While Ghana arrived in Benghazi without issue for their match against Sudan, Nigeria’s flight was diverted to Al Abraq Airport, leaving the team stranded for over 12 hours. Despite a “technical failure” cited by Libyan authorities, Ghana and Sudan faced no such issues. In response, the Nigeria Football Federation has opted to withdraw the Super Eagles from their scheduled match against Libya.
