Michael Olunga Nears Historic Milestone Despite Kenya’s Loss to Cameroon

Despite Kenya’s 4-1 defeat to Cameroon in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, Captain Michael Olunga’s consolation goal provided a silver lining. His tally now stands at 30 goals in 61 matches, putting him just five goals away from tying Kenya’s joint all-time top scorer. Olunga is closing in on legends Elijah Lidonde, Dennis Oliech, and William Ouma, with the latter’s record of 35 goals in sight. At 30, Olunga remains Kenya’s main striker, giving him ample time to break the record and make history.
