Dual-national center-back Moritz Jenz has received significant recognition following his standout performance in Bundesliga’s matchday eight. Whoscored.com selected Jenz, currently on loan to VfL Wolfsburg and playing for Mainz 05, for its Team of the Week after a strong defensive showing in the 1-1 draw with Borussia Mönchengladbach. Jenz, who spent five years in Fulham’s academy, also played for clubs including Tennis Borussia Berlin, Lausanne-Sport, Celtic, and Schalke 04. Born in Berlin to a German mother and Nigerian father, the 25-year-old has expressed a preference for representing Germany at the international level, though he remains uncapped.
Against Mönchengladbach, Jenz won a game-high ten aerial duels, registered seven clearances, made five tackles, and had two interceptions. His 96.1 percent passing accuracy led all starters, along with two shots, one of which was on target. Bundesliga Team of the Week for matchday eight also featured Bayern Munich’s four players, with Werder Bremen contributing two, and other clubs including Wolfsburg, Mainz 05, RB Leipzig, Augsburg, and VfB Stuttgart having one representative each.
