Nigeria Questions CAF President Motsepe’s Handling of Super Eagles’ Libya Ordeal, Cites South African Bias

Nigeria’s Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh, has criticized CAF officials, particularly President Patrice Motsepe, over their handling of the Super Eagles’ distressing experience in Libya.

The Nigerian national team was stranded at an abandoned airport in Al-Abraq for 15 hours without food, water, or internet access before their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Libya. Senator Enoh expressed frustration over CAF’s slow response, contrasting it with their swift intervention in a similar logistical issue involving South Africa. The minister also questioned Libya’s suitability to host international matches given the country’s political instability.

CAF is investigating the incident, but no findings or sanctions have been announced.
