Nigeria vs Ghana: Coach Eguavoen Calls Up 35 NPFL Stars for CHAN Qualifier

Super Eagles’ head coach, Augustine Eguavoen, has announced a 35-man squad for Nigeria’s 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against Ghana. With his team featuring some of the best talents from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Eguavoen aims to lead Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles to a place in the CHAN tournament.

This roster highlights some of NPFL’s top players, including Remo Stars’ wing-back Ismail Sadiq, Kano Pillars’ forward Rabiu Zikifilu, and Enugu Rangers’ midfielder Kazeem Ogunleye. Several players, such as Nasarawa United goalkeeper Mohammed Galadima, Akwa United defender Wisdom Ndon, and Bendel Insurance forward Michael Enaruma, have also earned their first call-ups.

The CHAN qualifier will be a two-legged match, with the first leg set for December 20-22, and the second leg following a week later. Nigeria will look to improve upon their last CHAN qualifier, where they narrowly missed out on qualification to Ghana. The winning team from the two legs will secure a spot in the CHAN tournament, scheduled for February 2025 across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

Eguavoen’s squad will begin preparations in Abuja on October 29, ready to showcase Nigeria’s finest homegrown talent on the international stage. This tournament, exclusive to players active in their country’s domestic leagues, gives Nigerian players a prime opportunity to prove their abilities.
