Ikenna Prosperity Okonkwo from Nigeria showcased outstanding skill at the ITF Juniors World Tour in Accra, securing both the singles and doubles titles in a thrilling six-week tournament. In the Boys’ Singles final, the 15-year-old triumphed over fellow Nigerian, Daniel Adeleye, in a tough three-set match, winning 7-6, 3-6, 6-3.

Okonkwo’s success didn’t stop there. Alongside Joseph Franklin Jimoh, he claimed victory in the Boys’ Doubles, defeating Belgium’s Jules Dannevoye and Louis Mouffe 6-3, 6-1. His dominance throughout the tournament established him as the standout player, earning him a total of three singles titles and two doubles titles.

Despite a challenging and costly six-week campaign, Okonkwo now has his sights set on competing in the junior Grand Slam, attributing his success to hard work, dedication, and support from the Aurum Tennis Foundation.

In the Girls’ Singles final, Great Britain’s Alisha Ndukwu took the title, defeating Tunisia’s Lamiss Houas 6-3, 6-2.

The tournament, hosted by Tennis Foundation Ghana, saw strong performances from Nigerian players, with founder Roger Crawford calling for reflection on the performance of Ghanaian competitors.
