Otto Addo Confident Ghana Will Overcome Sudan in AFCON Qualifiers

Ghana head coach Otto Addo has expressed confidence in his team’s chances against Sudan, stating that the likelihood of defeat is slim if they play as a cohesive unit.

The Black Stars will host the Falcons in the first leg of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on Thursday at the Accra Sports Stadium, with kickoff at 16:00 GMT. After a slow start to the campaign, which saw a 1-0 loss to Angola and a 1-1 draw with Niger, the four-time champions are determined to secure a much-needed win.

Currently sitting third in their group with one point, Ghana is eager to revive their qualification hopes. During a press conference, Addo said, “The probability that we lose tomorrow against Sudan is very, very low if we do our homework, stay focused, and play together as a team.”

The second leg will take place on Monday, October 14, at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya. Ghana, aiming for their fifth AFCON title, last won the tournament in 1982.
